Let’s face it. Change can be hard for anyone. Many of us turn into curmudgeons when it comes to learning something new or having to change the way we’ve always done something. We’ve leaned on the adage, “if it isn’t broken, it doesn’t require fixing.”
Despite how many rolls of duct tape or tubes of crazy glue you have applied, the old school outbound marketing system has become tired. Its performance hasn’t benefitted by an injection of B12 or any other remedy, even though the newest trend is from global to hyper-local.
Once you accept that the Internet has exploded the thrust of marketing to focus on the customer, it is easier to embrace the new inbound process.
Inbound Marketing is Relationship marketing.
ASJ Partners has written not one but two blogs extrapolating relevant statistics from HubSpot’s State of Inbound Marketing report denoting how companies are emphasizing relationship marketing. In fact, the report states that C-levels prioritize two inbound marketing goals: to reach the right audiences and convert leads.
Of course, any marketing effort is not without its challenges, analytics being one, internal resistance, another.
Creating quality content is critical to brand development as well as relationship-building. Put the effort into great copy for your Web site, email campaign and blogs. It is where the rubber meets the road.
Remember, once the content is posted and in your archive, it’s there until you remove it. So, your “face” is always ready to speak to a visitor.
Like all relationships, results take time
Even “overnight successes” began somewhere. The process proves itself over time. There are no shortcuts and patience will be required—it often is when expecting growth to occur in a guided direction.
The inbound marketing process also requires a commitment. Stopping the process before the payoff begins is not the best investment of your marketing dollars. You need to start and stick with it.
